Counsellor needs counselling

My neighbour entered my room with a disturbed look. "They have increased my yearly rent by Dhs8,000. My job is shaky," he said. I offered him coffee, convinced him that tough times do not last and sent him.
"I am sending my CV. Just lost my job," called up a friend. "Don't worry, I will check out," I promised. He was the third such caller.
I dressed up and went to meet the builder. "There is no way we cannot increase the rent," he argued. "But recession is hitting us hard," I said. "Sorry, take it or leave it," he put it straight.
"What's up?" asked my wife.
"I am feeling a bit down," I replied.
"Don't worry, tough..," my wife started consoling me.

The title of this post really surprised me.

When a person is left with no other choice, he tends to become helpless about the problem and starts feeling insecure.

If you failed to get one person's rent reduced and get another one a job, the reason is global economic slowdown and at present, nothing can be done about that.

May be in future something can be done about it. Why not think of any other alternative help to them now?

Well buddy, for you to bounce back to normal, all you need is just a pinch of self-confidence, a morsel of secureness and a big smile :)

I just learned the awareness of anicca (impermanence). I know, if one is in a situation like that it's harder to think this way. You are a real good friend.
In a minute or two I will go and abuse your friendship - I hope you can stand it (and will still talk to me :-)!

This is a problem in whole UAE now, even in my hotel, chefs who stay with their families are in tension due to rent hike..... But I really don't know what to say.... because I know counselling helps for sometime, but after that again you sink into same tension.. ( jo jhelta hai, wahi janta hai)

You know in the name of recession many companies in the world are dismissing their employees...absurd Have you ever heard that a CEO of a company cut his own salary for the benefit of his own firm ? pehaps no!
It is employees who pay the price everytime...In the name of recession, many companies earning huge doughs...

Good one! Some of my known people, working in IT have been sent home, because of recession. And these boys are used to drawing huge salaries and spending them freely.

As 'humanobserver' said, the topmost people don't even offer to reduce their salary. But this is a passing cloud. Hope for the best!
