As my friend was going gaga over Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger, am rushing through the pages. Better late than never. As usual, sharing three paras I liked so far:
“Only three have never let themselves be ruled by foreigners: China, Afghanistan and Abyssinia. These are the only three nations I admire.”
(Another friend argued that China was indeed at times ruled by foreigners. But as I am not an intellectual, I am not in this argument game)
“And only two destinies: Eat or get eaten up.”
“You were looking for the key for years/But the door was always open.”

Ramesh Bhai, this one is truly awesome - “You were looking for the key for years/But the door was always open.”
It is a remarkable achievement indeed to win the prestigious Man Booker Prize for Fiction.
That too with his debut novel, hats off to Aravind Adiga.
Well, i still couldn't manage to lay my hands on a copy of "The White Tiger", but one of my friends who read it said that the characters in the novel are 'pakka filmy style', is it so?
what a coincidence...i happen to be reading this very book right now ......
Argue with your friend -
When someone else can do a better job of ruling you, let them. Afghanistan has had a tough history, evading attacks after attacks. Today the country once known to be beautiful is in ruins and a haven for terrorists.
China could do with their own rule.
Don't know much of Ethiopian history. So.. :)
there are many such beautiful lines in the book...it's truly a masterpiece
It's good that you read the books and we derive the benefit.
Interesting quotes. I picked up the book once and could not get into it. If you finish it and like it let me know and I will have another go :-)

“You were looking for the key for years/But the door was always open.”
fantastic lines....most of the people in the world(including me) is searching the keys continuously for the doors which is already opened, mean while unfortunately or fortunately they misses the keys for the doors that was already closed..
very truly said!!!!!
Novel ? I dont read novels. So no comment :)
